1050 Denier Coated ballistic nylon fabric with Durable Water Repellent Finish

1050D coated Ballistic Nylon fabric is a tough, durable, basket weave fabric. This fabric is certified for the military and was first made popular  when it was created for anti-fragment jackets for the troops to resist bullet impact and debris from shrapnel. 1050D Ballistic Nylon is great at being water and abrasion resistant and is a very durable, versatile fabric.

Compared with 1680D ballistic, the 1050D ballistic nylon fabric is much more durable. The 1680D ballistic can bear about 1000 cycles rubbing while 1050D ballistic nylon can bear over 2000cycles rubbing.

1050 "Ballistic" Nylon is commonly used on high quality bags. It's woven to look and feel like the 1680D, but it's not the same stuff. It is much more heavier than 1680D which can be 475GSM which is 14oz/sq yd. It is same with 1680D weaving which is 2*2 basket but not like 1680D using 840D yarn, 1050D using two-ply 1050D to weave as one so it could actually be called a "2100 denier" fabric. Additionally the 1050D ballistic nylon has high tenacity nylon which will make the fabric much more durable compared with normal 1050D yarn.

Applications:

1050D Nylon is commonly used for military/tactical gear and heavy-duty outdoor gear. Some common uses for this fabric include: briefcases, horse blankets, pet beds, luggage, kayak/boat covers, tactical gear, tool belts, watch straps, and packs, knee, seat and calf strengthening on work wear, motorcycle chaps and apparel, office furniture, work and tool belts, and other items where abrasion resistance is a key characteristic.
